About the course
Internationally recognised certificate from American Heart Association.
It is an interactive DVD based course focussed on 1 and 2 person CPR for Adult, Child and Infant.
- The correct use of the BVM and AED during Basic Life Support.
- Administer Rescue Breathing.
- Recognition and Assistance of Adult, Child and Infant when choking.
Who can benefit
This course is aimed at Healthcare Providers registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa e.g. Doctors, dentists, nurses, paramedics and aligned personnel. It covers international guidelines and recommendations on CPR for Adults, Children and Infants including the use of a Bag Valve Mask and an Automated External Defibrillator.
Each participant will receive a BLS for Healthcare Providers Manual. The participant will be required to complete written and practical assessments with a pass rate of at least 85%.
No pre-requisites, but is more suitable for candidates in Health Care environment. Participants should have carefully read through the manual prior to the day of training. The BLS is a pre-requisite for the AHA Advance Life Support Course.
5 to 6 hours
On successful completion of this course the candidate will be issued with a BLS for Healthcare Providers Card. It is valid for 2 years
R950 per person, refreshments/light lunch included
This course earns 15 CPD points. Continuing Professional Development points are according to the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
Discovery Vitality members earn 2500 points completing the course points.
